Thomas Tuminello

Thomas Tuminello, Jr., 75, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in a Lake Charles hospital.

Born and raised in Lake Charles, Tommy was the beloved son of the late Thomas Tuminello, Sr. and Delores Fertita Tuminello. A proud graduate of Landry High School, he was a member of the football team that captured the Louisiana State Championship in 1965, an accomplishment he remembered fondly throughout his life.

Tommy was a man of strong Italian heritage, deep-rooted friendships, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He was an avid sports fan, especially passionate about the LSU Tigers, and he found joy in playing golf with friends any chance he could get.

He worked in the family business, Lake Charles Beverage Sales, and later as a dedicated salesman for H&H Chemicals. No matter where he worked, Tommy brought a spirit of warmth, humor, and reliability that left a lasting impression.

A man of tradition, Tommy looked forward each year to "The Big Chill," a weekend-long gathering with his closest friends... a celebration of friendship, laughter, and storytelling. He especially cherished his time spent at Seafood Palace with his dear friend, David Papania, where hours slipped by with good food and even better conversation.

Tommy's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Shields and her husband Brent, and Leah Shiels and her husband Gene; his grandchildren, Cooper Chesson and Amelia Shiels, who brought endless joy to his life; his sister, Marsha Tuminello Topham; his nephew, Drew Topham and wife Randi; and his companion, Cheryl Cooley.

Tommy will be remembered for his generous heart, his booming laugh, his fierce loyalty, and the way he made every room warmer with his presence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of friendship that never fades.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, with Msgr. Jace Eskind presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the start of the service, with a Rosary being recited at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Though Tommy has left this world, the stories, smiles, and spirit he shared with so many will live on forever.
