IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tina F.
Koonce
September 10, 1968 – March 31, 2026
Tina Fruge Koonce, 57, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026. Born on September 10, 1968, Tina lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
Tina was a strong and intelligent woman, known most as the world's greatest "GiGi." She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who gave her whole heart to those she loved. When she met the love of her life, Sam Koonce, she was raising three children on her own. As Sam would often say, they were "fat, happy, and well fed," a true testament to Tina's care and dedication as a mother. Together, Tina and Sam built a beautiful life and shared 27 loving years of marriage. She also lovingly embraced Sam's daughter as her own, never making a distinction in the love she gave.
Tina had a beautiful spirit that drew people in. She was fun to be around, full of life, and there was never a dull moment around her. She was known for her stubborn and hard-headed nature, but it was that same strength that defined her fierce love for her family.
Extremely talented, Tina was incredibly crafty. She spent countless hours in her shed creating birdhouses, jewelry boxes, and clocks. Tina was also a big fan of gardening. She also had a playful side and enjoyed pulling pranks on those around her, always bringing laughter wherever she went. Above all, Tina was a woman of deep affection. Her signature phrase, "Love you more," will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 27 years, Sam Koonce; her children, Crystal Koonce and fiancé Taah Guidry, Charles Pfeifer, Jerid Fruge and wife Samantha, and Patricia Martin and husband Jeb; her beloved grandchildren, Scarlett, Charlie, Presley, Savanna, Callie, and Conner; her siblings, Daniel Fruge II, David Fruge and wife Loren, and Christie Soileau and husband Mike; her very special cousin, Jaeson Leverkuhn; her cherished cats, Jynx, Anne, Stormy, and Numbkin; her faithful dog, Harley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Fruge and Patricia Franklin, and her mother-in-law, Linda Koonce.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ashley Schexnider and the staff at Memorial Oncology for their endless love, compassion, and care shown to Tina.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Tina's honor.
Tina will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, her creativity, and most of all, the love she gave so freely.
"I Love You More." - Tina
