Tommy Lynn Mason, affectionately known as Butch, was born on June 13, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.Butch dedicated over 50 years of his life to the automotive industry, working with pride at Billy Navarre Chevrolet and Allstar GMC. His craftsmanship and knowledge in automotive technology earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. A man of many passions, Butch had a profound love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing on a tranquil lake or hunting in the woods, he found joy in sharing these moments with family and friends. His enthusiasm extended into the kitchen as well, where he loved cooking and tending to his garden, nurturing both the soil and the connections with those around him.A natural storyteller with a mischievous spirit, Butch had a unique gift for bringing joy to others. His quick wit and penchant for practical jokes made him the life of any gathering. He was a generous soul, touching the lives of many with his kindness and zest for life. An avid NFL and SEC football fan, he passionately rooted for the Saints, Cowboys, and LSU, sharing countless game days filled with laughter and camaraderie.Butch is survived by his beloved daughters, Devon Mitchell (Jason) and Ashley Dufresne (Matthew); sons, Derek Mason (Amanda) and Jeremy Gibbons (Rachel); and his grandchildren, Sam Castro, Andrew Castro, McKynlee Bertrand, Brady Mitchell, Reese Dufresne, Lilian Dufresne, Aubrey Mason, Avary Mason, Addyson Mason, and Alyssa Mason. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Barbara Mason; his parents, Tommy Lynn and Ola B. Mason; his sister, Mary Tanner; brother, Dennis Mason; sister-in-law, Dana Mason; brother-in-law, Leslie Lawson; and nephew, Steven Mason.
To honor Butch's remarkable life, a memorial service will be held on December 22, 2025, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home, with a gathering of friends starting at 8:00 am, followed by the service at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, La. In remembering Butch, let us celebrate the moments he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave unconditionally.
