Iowa – Una Brashear, born November 30, 1923, the daughter of Abra and Philemon (Bourque) Johnson, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 94.
Una graduated from Iowa High School and Vincent Business College. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards with her sisters and cooking for her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 73 ½ years, Waldon Brashear; sons, Jim Brashear of Anahuac, Texas and Andy Brashear and wife, Lisa, of Woodworth, LA; grandchildren, Rachael Holmes and husband, John, Josh Brashear and wife, Jessica, Jeb Brashear and wife, Kayla and Shellby Hilton and husband, Michael; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Istre of Lake Charles, Willie Mae Smith and husband, Ray of Lake Charles, Rena Richard of New Orleans, Betty Chandler and husband, Connie Mac of Flint, Texas, Leatrice Chandler and husband, Walter of Florida and Peggy Trahan and husband, Willard of Lake Charles.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Virginia Gail Daigle; siblings, Roland Johnson, Shirley Mistretta and Mary Lancaster.
Funeral services are Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home- Iowa. Burial will follow in LeFranc Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa. Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m., with a rosary at 1:45 p.m.
