Vella Babineaux Stacey, 88, of Lake Charles passed away in a local hospital surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 17, 2019.
She was born on October 12, 1930 to John and Alida Babineaux in Lake Charles. She was always well presented and beautiful. She was affectionately known as “Rangy” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, shopping and traveling. She was a member of the Petro Chem Club and an avid McNeese Football fan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Joe E. Stacey; two daughters, Pamela Quebodeaux (Patrick) of Westlake, LA and Karen Wilson (Shelby) of The Villages, FL; grandchildren, Jeremy Quebodeaux, Erin Bonvillain, Jessica Quebodeaux, Kari O’Quinn, and Melody Warren; great grandchildren, Kennadee, Jackson, Aislinn, Lily, Aidan, Jace, Ava, Jett, Joel, and Carter; and three sisters, Natalie Dougay, Annie Brewer and Yvonne Boudoin
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lisa Bonvillain Boerman; three brothers, Alvin Babineaux, Solomon Babineaux, and Hubert Babineaux; and two sisters, Della Box, and Elise Richard.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home. The Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
