Velma Citizen Eaglin

Mrs. Velma Citizen Eaglin was born on September 28, 1944, to the late Josephine Bellard Citizen and Walter Citizen. She departed her earthly home on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at her home.

Velma was united in holy matrimony to Jean Eaglin of Sunset, LA, for 47 years and to this union they were blessed with one son, Ron Eaglin and their grand dog, Oreo. Velma was widely known for her sewing and taking care of her plants.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Citizen and Josephine Bellard Citizen; her husband, Jean Eaglin; her son, Ron Eaglin; grand dog, Oreo; two sisters, Ethelin Moore Leota Robinson; and two brothers, Larry and Richard Citizen. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Jane Bias, Elvina Carrier and Josephine Chavis; two brothers, Warren and Wallace Citizen; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.

Services for Velma will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 12 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9 AM until the start of services.  A rosary will be recited at 11:30 AM.

The family of Velma Eaglin shares sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers, acts of love and kindness shared during our time of bereavement. A special thank you to the staff at the Guardian and Heart of Hospice. We are forever grateful for the angels in human form who cared for Velma. May God richly bless you all.

Pall bearers for Velma will be Lance Citizen, Joseph J. Carrier, Abraham Chavis, Jehi’el Perrodin, Bill Bruney, Joseph Citizen and Rufus Senegal. Honorary pall bearers will be Wallace, Citizen, Warren Citizen, James Chavis, Joseph Citizen, John Citizen, and Wilson Citizen.
