Velma Marie Latiolais Arceneaux, 94, died Monday, February 6, 2017 in her residence, lovingly surrounded by her family of five generations. She was born and raised in Church Point, Louisiana to Clovis and Agnes Marie Perrodin Latiolais. Mrs. Arceneaux moved to the Sulphur area in 1954. She was a school cafeteria worker and school bus driver for the Calcasieu Parish School Board from 1954 until her retirement in 1984. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church where she served on the Women’s Altar Society. Velma was an excellent seamstress and cook, as well as an excellent Boure’ and poker player. Her greatest joy was found in taking care of her beloved granddaughter, great grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Nell and Don Chamblee of Sulphur; her granddaughter, Annette Belcher and husband Steven of Lake Charles; three great-grandchildren, Jillyan Bevlaqua, Treville Belcher, and Joseph Belcher; and one great-great granddaughter, Avery Bruce. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Treville Arceneaux. After 3 years, 7 months, and 6 days, she is now reunited with her love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur at 10 A.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Father Andrews Kollannoor, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 8th at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday, February 9th from 8 A.M. until time of leaving for the church.
