LeBleu Settlement – Velva Dean Lafleur, 74, passed away on October 13, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Velva was born in Lafayette on October 21, 1941 to the late Sidney and Dora (Buller) LaFleur. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. Velva was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as a member of the altar society and lay minister.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years Jesse LaFleur; children, Tracy LaFleur and wife Cookie, Troy LaFleur, Rhonda Gwatney and husband Jimmy, Arlene Rich and husband Mike; siblings; Marvin LaFleur, Keith LaFleur, Cynthia Doucet and husband Kelly; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jesse Neal LaFleur and brother, James Patrick LaFleur.
Funeral Services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with the Father Roland Vaughn officiating on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery. Visitation begins Friday, October 14, 2016 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
