Venice "Toot" Istre Vincent

July 6, 1929 — February 19, 2017

Venice “Toot” Istre Vincent, 87, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 19, 2017, while in a local care facility.

 

Born to Amie and Cecilia Breaux Istre in Rayne, Louisiana, Mrs. Vincent grew up in Maurice and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She loved to work in her flower beds and vegetable garden, sharing vegetables with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church and later a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Rob Vincent and wife Bonnie of Berea, Kentucky, Richard Vincent and wife Linda and Chester Vincent and wife Gail, all of Lake Charles; a nephew whom she loved as a son, Clifton Istre of Biloxi, Mississippi; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 6 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Douglas Vincent, her parents, two brothers, Wilson and Nelson Istre, and one sister Irene Smith.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate at the funeral service. Her grandson, Reverend Phillip Vincent, will officiate at the graveside service at Nunez Cemetery in Kaplan, Louisiana. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5 until 8 p.m. and will resume on Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.

 

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care given their mother to the doctors and staff of Lake Charles Care Center and Harbor Hospice.

 

Donations in memory of Mrs. Vincent may be made to the First Baptist Church Library Fund, 830 Hodges Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601.
