Welsh – Vera Joy Mallett, born in Welsh on March 20, 1943, daughter of the late Lucien and Bertha (Oliver) Ardoin, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the age of 78.
Joy, a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors, loved playing video games, eating crawfish & crabs and dancing. “I Can Dance” was one of her favorite things to tell everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Joy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ernest Mallett; children, Katrina Cunningham (Johnny) of Sterlington, LA; Patrick Mallett (Cheryl Duplechian); Bradley Mallett, both of Welsh; siblings, Donald Ardoin; Reva Gary; 2 grandchildren, Neil & Matthew Mallett; 3 great-grandchildren, Caden, Toryn & Leon Mallett, and 1 grand-dog, Camo
A gathering of friends and family will begin Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Cremation will follow the gathering under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
