Verdie Douglas

Verdie Douglas, 88, passed away on November 29, 2017 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Douglas lived a happy and active life>

She is survived by three daughters, Sherelyn Solano and husband Raymond, Regina Ashford, and Donna Dodds and husband Bill; seven grandchildren, Monica Fontenot (Kevin), Michelle Hammer (Todd), Joe Pellerin (Shannon), April Williams, Crystal Watson, David Dodds, and Brandon Dodds (Bobbie); twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many special nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Douglas; parents, Marion and Edna Demarets; three sisters, Mildred Marcantel Pelafique, Velma Marcantel Dyson, and Edna Sybil Marcantel Fontenot; and brother, Johnny Marcantel.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 2PM on Saturday, December 2, 2017. The Very Reverend Tony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 4PM to 8PM on Friday, December 1st and will continue Saturday morning at 11AM until the start of the service.
