Verdie Thibodeaux

Iowa – Verdie Thibodeaux, 88, passed away May 5, 2016, in a local care facility.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church on May 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Verdie is survived by her children, Alice Benoit (Dennis), Brenda Sonnier, Bud Thibodeaux and Paula Begnaud (Dewey); 2 sisters, Novella Dies and Joyce Cormier (Lester); 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Gurvey Thibodeaux; parents; 9 siblings and great-grandson, Jordan Sonnier.
Verdie was born on October 16, 1927 to the late Theobert and Alice (Olivier) Elkins. She worked in the cafeteria at J. I. Watson Elementary for many years and was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. Her hobbies included bingo, cards and crocheting.
