Dwain Clark, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday October 20, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 1, 1951, in Oakdale, Louisiana, to Vernon and Kathleen Clark.
Dwain earned a bachelor's degree from Northwestern State University. He retired from Citgo after 32 years of work in maintenance. He was an avid white perch fisherman, and especially loved fishing at Lake Larto and Toledo Bend. His favorite fishing partner being his soulmate, Lynette. He had a passion for hunting duck and geese with his family and dear friends. Remembered for his amazing fried fish, his singing, his love for LSU sports, and his infectious sense of humor. Pop rarely missed an opportunity to attend a sporting event for his grandkids and always greeted everyone with a smile. He was a giant of a man in every sense of the word, genuine as they come, and his large presence will be missed by so many.
Dwain was a devout husband to his wife of 49 years, Lynette, a loving father to his daughters, and beloved “Pop” to his seven grandchildren. A model husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devout Catholic and it was his faith in the Lord carried him through his illness until the very end. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynette Clark; daughters, Sarah Simon and husband Ryan, and Katie Sanford and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Noah, Ella, Eli, Cooper Simon and Lily, Annie, and Andrew Sanford; his sister Martha Johnson and husband Nathan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vickie Angel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23,2025 at 2:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, with Father Alan Trouille and Father Paul Jussen officiating. Visitation will begin Thursday at 10:00am and continue until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Rachel, Julie, and Courtney, for their loving care of Dwain. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Dwain’s memory.
