Veronica "Ronnie" Sellers

Veronica “Ronnie” Portie Sellers, 80 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on May 11, 2025. She was born and raised in Hackberry, and proud to have raised her family there. She graduated from Hackberry High school in 1963; she then went on to attend Northwestern University and McNeese State University. She worked for the Department of Energy and retired from the Department of Defense.

Veronica “Ronnie” loved the outdoors, where she enjoyed fishing, working in her yard and when the work was done, she enjoyed a good game of bingo, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Lynn Sellers; daughter, Kyla Sellers Dean and (Bobby Stansel); son, Garon Sellers and wife Nicole Sellers, granddaughters, Lauren Guillory (Colton Guillory), Alex Pulver (C.J. Pulver); grandson, Beau Sellers; great grandchildren, Sutton Pulver, Jax Pulver, Bennett Guillory, Isla Pulver and Dean Guillory. She is preceded by her parents, Dewey Paul Portie, Sr., and Dorothy Guillory Portie; and one brother, Dewey Paul Portie, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, La. Visitation will be held 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 15, 2025, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Hall. Visitation will resume Friday, from 8:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, La.
