It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vickie Lynn Fontenot, age 69, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who left this world on October 26, 2025. Born on April 11, 1956, in Gillis, Louisiana, Vickie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her vibrant spirit and her love for life.
Vickie was married to her devoted husband, Allen Fontenot, Jr., in 1976. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. She is survived by her cherished children, Allen Fontenot, III (Hayley) and Kristen Kelly Fontenot Shiver (Bill), along with her adored granddaughter Taryn Pittmon, grandson Raleigh Cole Trahan and great grandson, Soren James Sheppeck. Vickie will also be missed by her loving siblings, Kenneth Ray Cole (Brenda) and Charlotte Ann Cole Doucet (Paul).
A dedicated professional, Vickie thrived in the retail industry, leveraging her innate talent for sales to connect with others. Beyond her work, she actively participated in her community through the New Life Pentecostal Church and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In her leisure time, Vickie enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including canoeing, camping, horseback riding, and expressing her creativity through painting and drawing. Her love for nature and the arts reflected her zest for life.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to honor Vickie's memory. A gathering of friends and family will begin in Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Birdnest Cemetery. Vickie Lynn Fontenot will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering spirit, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and joy, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Ceburn Raleigh Cole and Betty Miller Cole.
