Iowa – Virgie Jackson, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Virgie was born in Woodlawn on December 3, 1926 to the late Dupre and Melena (Foreman) Senegal. She graduated as an LPN and worked as a nurse for over 60 years. Virgie enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and working on things around her home.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Roy and Edward Senegal.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Jackson; daughter, Shirley “Peaches” Wells, and husband, Donald, of Bolingbrook, IL; sisters, Marynell Gobert, Gloria Curry, both of Woodlawn, Mary Ann Walls, and husband, Calvin, of Austin, Texas and Esther Mae House, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Erick and Aaron Wells; great-grandchildren, Jenell, Donovan, Savannah Rose and Anyse Wells and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 10:55 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 310 N. Sarah St., Welsh, LA.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Welsh on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Father Celsius Offor officiating. Burial will follow in Bon Pasture Cemetery of Welsh under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
