Virginia Lee Ann Broussard Trahan

January 16, 1942 — May 26, 2021

LeBleu Settlement – Virginia Trahan, born on January 16, 1942 in Lake Arthur, daughter of the late Wilfred Joseph and Rosalie Clotile Fontenot Broussard, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the age of 79.

Virginia lived in the area all her life. She worked for Johnson Funeral Home for 5 ½ years and retired from Sam’s Club as a food demonstrator after 23 ½ years of service. She helped open 2 Sam’s Club in Lake Charles and one on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge.

She enjoyed bible study and prayer meetings at Our Lady Queen of Heaven; His House Prayer Group; Ragley Prayer Group and St. Henry Prayer Group. Virginia loved dancing, music, and horseback riding.

Her children and their companions were the light of her life. You could put a smile on her face by talking about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of her family and how they loved one another.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald Charles Broussard, and grandson, Sidney Trahan.

Virginia is survived by her children, Wesley Trahan (Missi); Romona Rodriquez (Gaston); Dale Trahan; Donna Moe (Steven); Greg Trahan (Julie); Jennifer Dautreuil (Carl); sister, Faith Ann Freyou (Brent); 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Monsignor Daniel Torres, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Friday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a rosary recited by her children at 6 p.m. and will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for Gregorian Masses to be said.
