Vito Joseph “Joe” Catrambone Jr., 63, went on to be with his Savior on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
Joe was born in Norfolk, VA, grew up in Cameron Parish and then settled in the Lake Charles area. After graduating from McNeese State he began a career as an engineer in the Petro-Chemical industry. His career brought him to work across the Middle-East and also Algeria where he would eventually retire with Trunkline LNG in Lake Charles. Mr. Catrambone was also a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Germany. He was a loyal member of the American Legion for over forty one years. Joe was a rescuer at heart and served as a volunteer firefighter and an EMT in Moss Bluff, LA. A very active man always trying to serve others through his volunteer work and will be remembered as a brilliant man that could fix nearly anything. He even took up being a jeweler as a hobby. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. His family remembers him as a generous, humble, Godly man.
Mr. Catrambone is survived by his wife, Anita Catrambone of Lake Charles; daughter, Mary Lynn Hirner-Catrambone of Boblingen, Germany; two sons, Dustin Catrambone (Rebecca) of Hammond, LA, and Christopher Catrambone (Regina) of Malta; and nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vito Joseph Catrambone Sr.; step-mother, Lynn Dyson Catrambone; mother, Dorothy Virginia Brown-Catrambone; and brother, John Catrambone.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Service will be officiated by Monsignor Charles Dubois. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home that Saturday morning at 10:00AM to 12:30PM.
