Vivian Marie Bonvillain

July 9, 1939 — February 28, 2026

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Vivian Marie Bonvillain, 86, passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, February 28, 2026. A native of Lake Charles, she was born on July 9, 1939 to Abbie and Irby Duhon Gaspard.

Vivian was a 1958 graduate of LaGrange High School in Lake Charles. In 1978, she made Baton Rouge her home, where she lived for the remainder of her life. For twenty-five years, she faithfully served as a Pre-K teacher at St. Jean Vianney Catholic School. She loved her students dearly and took pride in helping young children learn and grow. She retired in 2004, leaving behind not just a career, but a lasting impact on countless families.

She was a devoted member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church and lived her faith quietly and faithfully. Vivian enjoyed traveling, tending to her flower gardens, Cajun dancing, and playing bourré with family and friends. Above all else, her greatest joy was time spent with those she loved. Her home was a place of laughter, good food, and strong family bonds.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry Bonvillain (Angie), William M. Bonvillain, Jr., Denise Sherlock (Mark), Katherine Bonvillain (Jackylyn), Danya Gremillion (Brian), and Cris Bonvillain Saucier; her 17 grandchildren; her 16 great grandchildren; her 3 great great grandchildren; her brothers, Richard Gaspard (Grace) and Abbie Gaspard, Jr. (Ida Mae); and her sister, Hilda LeBlanc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, William Martin Bonvillain, Sr.; her granddaughter, Alicia Terrebonne; and other dearly loved family members.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with Msgr. Jace Eskind presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 8:30 AM until the start of the service.

Vivian will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steady faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family. May she rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with those who have gone before her.
