Wade Watson Mccombs

November 21, 1935 — November 11, 2016

Wade Watson McCombs, 80, of Bundick’s Lake, passed away at a local care facility on November 11, 2016 after a brief but hard fought battle with cancer.

Wade was born on November 21, 1935 to Clifford and Gardie McCombs. He was raised in Pineville, Louisiana, and moved to Lake Charles in 1953, where he lived until moving to Bundick’s Lake in 1998. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School. Wade worked for South Central Bell for 35 years, and up until his death he was always a “telephone man” at heart. He loved duck hunting, fishing, and carpentry. He was one of the best storytellers you could ever meet, and loved to talk about his childhood years in Pineville. His stories and clever sense of humor will forever be missed by those who knew him.

Left to honor his memory is his wife, Rita of Bundick’s Lake; daughter, Kim Mouton and husband, Ken; and brother, Richard McCombs and wife Marylin of Moss Bluff. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Maggie Mouton, Wade Benoit, Kasey Willison (Nathan), and Abby Benoit; two great-grandsons, Aiden and Skylar; and numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and four legged babies, especially his loyal dog, “Jack.”

Wade was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Marguerite Khoury McCombs; his parents, Clifford and Gardie McCombs; his daughter, Kelly Benoit; sister, Josie Nell Antley and husband J.D.; and brother, Clifford McCombs and wife Betty; and sister, Rebecca Humphrey.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. His graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Graceland / Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA. There will be a gathering for family and friends at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Monday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:40 PM.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Landmark Care Center and Heart of Hospice as well as special caregivers, Jessica Leblanc and George Mcgee.
