Wallace "Blackie" Nunez

Bell City – Wallace “Blackie” Nunez, 85, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 in a local care facility.

Blackie was born in Cameron on August 8, 1931 to the late Luma and Vergie LeBouf Nunez. He was a graduate of Bell City High and served his country as United States Marine. He was a member of St. John the Vinney Catholic Church and also member of Knights of Columbus. Blackie married the love of his life Rita Mae O’Blanc in 1961. He spent his life working as a farmer and enjoyed working outdoors.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Rita Nunez of Bell City; son, Anthony Nunez and wife, Chris of Bell City; daughter, Leatha Hoffpauir and husband Stephen of Bell City; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Nunez, and siblings.

Visitation begins Thursday, December 8, 2016, in St. John the Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with a rosary at 11:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City, with Father Emmanuel Tanu officiating on Thursday at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
