Walter Godeau, longtime resident of Lake Charles, died February 4, 2017 after a short bout with cancer.
Walter was born on December 27, 1931 in Opelousas to the late Oscar & Olympe Godeau. He was the last surviving of 5 siblings. At 18, Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army & served a 3 year tour of duty in Japan with the rank of Corporal. He went on to a career as a firefighter & retired from the Lake Charles Fire Dept. He had a successful career in advertising as well, and owned his own business, Impressions Unlimited.
He leaves behind 3 daughters, Shirley Derise and husband Philip, Peggy Scott and husband Jim, Janet Scott and husband Roy; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Savoy, Erica Bunnell, Ashley Scott, Michael Scott & 4 great granddaughters, Ava & Elliana Bunnell, Kinsley & Ashlynn Savoy.
A graveside service will be held February 18, 2017 at 2 pm at Highland Memorial Gardens with nephew, Pastor Sherman Soileau officiating.
Walter will be missed by his family & will be remembered for his words of wisdom, jokes & songs, which will live on.
