Wanda Hackett Bellon Matt

Wanda Hackett Bellon Matt, born on March 21, 1933, in Gueydan, daughter of the late Robert Orlando Hackett, II and Mae Cox Hackett, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the age of 90.
Wanda, a graduate of USL, taught school in Cameron Parish and completed her 31year teaching career at Hathaway. She was a gifted doll marker, quilter, and enjoyed teaching others her craft. She was instrumental in the launch of Hackett’s Cajun Kitchen.
She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Linny Bellon, and brothers, Tommy, Bobby, and Charlie Hackett.
Survivors are her son, Danny Bellon (Margaret); daughter, Linda Bellon Thibodeaux (Max Eizan); grandchildren, Zane Louis Bellon, Dewey Thibodeaux, Fay Brink, and Jeffrey Thibodeaux.
A Mass of Christian burial is Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
