Wanda Marie Franques Guidry, 63, passed away on February 9, 2026.
She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, but moved to Lake Charles as a child, where she spent most of her life. Wanda graduated from Sulphur High School, where she was a standout athlete. She played basketball, softball, volleyball, and nearly every sport available, though basketball was her true passion. She later attended McNeese State University for a time, pursuing her goal of becoming a physical education teacher.
Wanda married her first love and moved to Broussard, Louisiana, where she began her family. She had two children, Meagon and Clinton Jr., who quickly became the center of her world. Wanda loved her children deeply, and when she became a grandmother, she absolutely adored her grandchildren.
In her later years, Wanda developed a love for bingo and cherished the time spent talking and laughing with her friends.
She is survived by her children, Meagon Roberts (Adam) and Clinton Nevils Jr. (Kyle); her grandchildren, Anthony Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Logan Roberts, and Ava Nevils; and her siblings, Sandra Franques, Michael Franques (Susan), and Carolyn Richard (John).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Guidry; her parents, Hubert Franques and Louise Spell Duplechain; and her sister, Valerie Franques.
A memorial service for Wanda will take place on Friday February 20, 2026 at 1pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 11am and last until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
