Wendell Clark Murphy, 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday August 8, 2016 after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His bravery will always be remembered as he endured the fight with all the latest medical technology.
Wendell was born on February 22, 1943 in Cameron, LA to the late Arnold and Vivian Murphy. Wendell was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a local businessman being the owner and operator of Wendell’s Electric and Hardware. He also owned several rental properties.
Wendell moved to Lake Charles after Hurricane Rita, where he retired. He was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church in Cameron, Masonic Lodge #439, Scottish Rite and Habibi Temple in Lake Charles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold Murphy, Jr.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories are his long time companion Carolyn Miller; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Kim Murphy; daughter and son-in-law, Randee Sue and Dennis Dupin; brother and sister-in-law, JC and Lois Murphy; 3 grandchildren, Dex Murphy, Nicole and Hannah Dupin; mother of his children, Shirley Murphy; A host of very close and dear cousins.
Memorial services will be conducted 6 PM Thursday August 11, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 3 PM till time of service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Sulphur, LA or to the Wakefield Methodist Church in Cameron, LA.
