Wendell Warren Marcantel

August 28, 1940 — December 7, 2024

Wendell Warren Marcantel, born in Iowa, LA, on August 28, 1940, son of the late Joseph and Katherine Broderick Marcantel, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at age eighty-four.

Wendell was a graduate of Fenton High School. He faithfully served in the United States Army, his tours included Vietnam. Wendell was a member of First United Methodist Church of Iowa, he retired from the oilfield. He was a proud member of the American Legion, DAV, and VVA.

Wendell enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was an accomplished piddler, always telling tales. Wendell would hold court in his shop, he never met a stranger, always had a smile and a story for anyone he would see.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Marcantel; sons, Marc Marcantel, and wife Jacqueline, Wade Marcantel, and wife Leah; brothers, Dave Marcantel, and wife Virginia, Bill Marcantel, and wife Anita; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Matt Marcantel; great niece, Hannah Vincent.

A gathering of friends and family is Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in First United Methodist Church of Iowa, LA from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 am. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. David Dewitt and Rev. Dr. Doug Ezell. Burial of cremains will be in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbara Grey Educational Scholarship through First United Methodist Church of Iowa, or the charity of your choice.
