Wilbert R. Trahan, 74, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully at his residence on May 20, 2024, as a result of diseases related to Agent Orange.
Wilbert was born on November 19, 1949, in Abbeville to Claude and Giles (Frederick) Trahan. After attending Abbeville High School, he was drafted and later enlisted into the US Army serving our country honorably in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from duty, Wilbert was a US Army Recruiter for SW Louisiana.
His proud Military Service of 8 years awarded him, Expert Marksman with M-16, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Vietnam Service Medal and Purple Heart. After retiring from the US Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1978, Wilbert pursued a career in the Oilfield until he retired in 2010 from Halliburton as Senior Multi Field Service Rep.
He enjoyed his retirement working cattle and riding his horses, golfing, hunting, fishing and his downtime was spent on his patio watching western movies with his cigar and a drink.
Wilbert is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Duplichan Trahan, his daughter, Alisha Trahan (her significant other, Scott Griffin), 3 grandchildren, Claire Gondron, Drake Broussard and Jeren Broussard, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Claude “Kie” and Giles (Frederick) Trahan, daughter, Rene’ Giles Trahan, sister, Mary Lou Lemaire, and 3 brothers, Wilfred F. Trahan, Paul W. Trahan and Thomas J. “Tommy-T” Trahan.
An expression of thanks to Harbor Hospice, especially his nurse, Elliot Reeves and aid, Lisa … Also, to Wilbert’s daughter, Alisha who moved in and cared for him in his home for his last 8 weeks.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles LA. 70605. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
