William "Billy" Ryan

William “Billy” Edward Ryan, 77, passed away on December 26, 2018 at a local hospital.

Mr. Billy was born in Lake Charles and retired as a pipefitter for Citgo. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mr. Billy enjoyed his monthly trips to Coushatta Casino to see his friends. His passion was rodeo. He enjoyed teaching others how to ride horses, and roping cows. In his younger days he was a bronc rider in rodeos.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Evadine “Dean” Ryan; five children, Tammy L. Ryan, Tracie L. Smith (Duane), Tina L. Deshotel (Gene), William E. “Buddy” Ryan Jr., and Preston L. Ryan; two step-children, Ricky Fontenot, and Donald Fontenot; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Georgia Ryan; brother, Henry “Boogie” Preston Ryan III; and three grandchildren, Thomas James Martin, Kevin Wayne Ellender Jr., and Kevin James Baker Fontenot.

A funeral will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 29, at 2PM. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, December 28, from 5PM to 8PM with a rosary at 6PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday at 1PM until the start of the service.
