William Dering

William “Willie” Paul Dering, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 27, 1950, to Peggy Paula Petit and William Clouet Dering, Willie was a proud Marine who served in the United States Marine Corps with distinction in the field of intelligence. Following his service, he pursued his passion for automobiles, becoming a skilled mechanic and the proud owner of Tune-Ups Plus.

An avid outdoorsman, Willie loved bird hunting and fishing, and cherished the quiet moments spent in nature. He was a man of integrity, strength, and deep devotion to his family.

Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife of 43 years, Kaye Louise Moore Dering; his children, James Troy Dering, Jeremy Paul Dering (Allison), and William Brett Dering (Lindsay); his sister, Kim Vaughan (Roy); and his cherished grandchildren: Darian, Harrison, Nina, Margaret, Finley Anne, Palmer, Reeves, and Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Diane Agnes Williams and Paula Mae Dering; and daughter-in-law, Brandi Dering.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, with inurnment at Highland Cemetery.
