William Dunn "Bill" Gardiner, 88, died on December 3, 2025 at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles.

Born in Manila, Philippines to Earl Everard and Mabel Dunn Gardiner, Bill was reared in Mission, Texas. He was a 1956 graduate of Edinburg High School in Mission and a 1961 graduate of Pan American University, now University of Texas at Edinburg. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. Bill was a chemist for W. R. Grace and Company for thirty years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, traveling, and spending time at Port Isabel, Texas. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Dr. Judy C. Gardiner; three stepsons, Keith Bordelon of New Orleans, LA, David Burkamp (Erin) of Fort Worth, Texas, and William Burkamp (Tracy) of Hickory, North Carolina; one sister, Wanda Sarah Stillwell of Philadelphia, PA; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Burkamp Plott (Dawson), and Emily Burkamp; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Carter (Sue) of Cecilia, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first two wives, Marcia Piel Gardiner and Ouida Burkamp Gardiner; and his brother-in-law, Richard Stillwell.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, with Pastor Tim Norris and Rev. Tracy L. MacKenzie presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service. At his request, Mr. Gardiner was cremated. His ashes will be scattered at South Padre Island, TX at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately following services at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1620 E. Prien Lake Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70601

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved Bill to the staff of Harbor Hospice, Najah, Christian, Vera and Toya, among others.
