William M. "Buddy" Dupin, 84, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, in the comfort of his home. Mr. Dupin was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He is a graduate of Lake Charles High School where he played football and basketball, and developed a lifelong passion for sports. He was an avid supporter of MSU and LSU athletics and a diehard Saints fan. Mr. Dupin worked most of his life in the furniture industry, primarily for Gulf Coast Furniture and Lafitte Furniture. Mr. Dupin also worked a short while for Prudential Insurance and, following retirement, began driving for Avis Rent a Car, where he met and enjoyed the company of many new friends. He was a devoted family man, supporting his wife's successful career, and his daughters' and grandchildrens' countless events throughout the years. He loved to dance, drive, and especially travel, internationally during his younger years and extensively across the states in his later years as a member of the FMCA, Cruisin Cajuns, and Texas Outlaws Motor Coach Association. Mr. Dupin was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church and Knights of Columbus. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-five years, Geniveve Shuff Dupin of Lake Charles; two daughters, Cheryl Dupin Deshotel and husband David, and Becky Dupin Myers and husband John D., both of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Tiffany Myers Hitdlebaugh and husband David, Lisa Reneé Myers, Jason Price Young and fiancé Tracy Badgett, and Kimberly Dawn Young; four great-grandchildren, Aaron John, Reid Matthew, and Grayson Michael Hitdlebaugh, and Nola Kate Young; brother, Ted David Dupin and wife Kathy of Lake Charles; brother-in-law, Lee Roy Douget of Lake Charles; and, his very best friend, Raymond Oates of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ivey and Ella Ogea Dupin, one brother, Joseph Ivy "Sonny" Dupin, Jr., and one sister, Edna Dupin Douget. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Mr. Dupin's caregivers, Leanna Stevens, Tasnee Leanmongkol, and Teresa Drake, for the excellent care and love they have shown for Mr. and Mrs. Dupin throughout his illness. Also, thank you to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care and kindness during this difficult time. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation on Monday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation on Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
