William Anthony Mancuso

William A. Mancuso (a/k/a Bill, Dad and Papa)

Bill was born on July 29, 1933, and he went home to his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2026. He was also looking forward to seeing the love of his life, Shirley “Jean” Mancuso!!

Bill was born in Lake Charles as the oldest of four children to his parents, Basil T. Mancuso and Nancy Viglia Mancuso. Bill graduated from Ouachita High School in Monroe and LA Tech, and he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. Bill began working as an accountant, and upon passing the CPA Exam, he started working for the CPA firm of Canfield and Burch which eventually became Canfield, Burch and Mancuso. Prior to Bill’s retirement, the CPA firm merged with McElroy & Quirk to become McElroy Quirk and Burch. During his professional career, Bill served as the President of the local CPA Society as well as on the Board of the local United Way Pioneer Club and YMBC.

After returning to Lake Charles, Bill met his soul mate, Shirley “Jean” Mancuso, and they were married in 1961, and their marriage lasted almost 59 years until Jean’s passing in 2020. During their marriage, they had 3 children, David, Ken and Julie, and they were also blessed with 4 grandchildren, Will Mancuso, Lauren Mancuso, Juliette Mancuso and Grace Mancuso. His beloved grandchildren called Bill “Papa”.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Basil Mancuso and Nancy Mancuso, his wife, Jean, and his brothers, Joseph Mancuso and Thomas Mancuso, and he was survived by his sister, Nancy Stephens, his son, William David Mancuso, and wife, Lisa of Baton Rouge, LA, his son, Kenneth Alan Mancuso, and wife, Carolyn of San Geronimo, CA, his daughter, Julie Christine Mancuso of Lake Charles, LA and his 4 grandchildren, William Daryl Mancuso, Lauren Elizabeth Mancuso, Juliette Claire Mancuso and Grace Ryan Mancuso. Bill also leaves a close family friend, Carla Venissat.

Bill loved his Italian heritage along with all types of food - but especially Italian Food and the awesome Sicilian spaghetti sauce and meatballs that Jean learned to cook!! Bill was also a pretty good cook himself!! Bill was often designated as the “Grill Master” (before that term became popular) during many cookouts with family and friends!! His grilled steaks, burgers and bbq chicken were amazing!!

Above all Bill loved his Family and his Catholic faith!! Bill loved to go fishing and go on trips with his family and friends!! Bill was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church serving on the financial boards for the church and on various Parish building projects. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at OLQH and was an ACTS Retreat member. Additionally, Bill was also a long-standing member of the Serra Club and the Lake Charles Kiwanis Club.

The family would like to thank Dr Ronald Lewis for his compassionate and professional care along with his staff and also thank the many doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital who also helped him over the years. Also, the family would also like to thank Del Malrbugh, Christina Crosby, Kizzy Victoria and the nurses and staff from St. Joseph’s Hospice who provided care and assistance to both Jean and Bill. In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorial donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Bill will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
