Neal Stanfield

Neal Stanfield "Speedy" was a hardworking and straightforward man who devoted 43 years of his life to working at Alcoa. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and hunting, but above all, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He married his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Gussman, on March 22, 1974, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.

Neal was a man who could do just about anything with his hands. He was a talented woodworker who made beds for his grandchildren, bars, shelves, and many other things. He even planned to build his own coffin before he became ill. He was not just a man whittling on his back porch. He made detailed plans and took pride in creating a great product. He even made the incense burner for St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Neal was also a handyman and the type of man who would lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He loved taking care of his family and was always willing to help. For many years, while his children were in the band, he pulled the band trailer for South Beauregard High School.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rhonda Stanfield; children, William Johnathon Stanfield (Stephanie) and Nicole Stanfield Bush (Layne); grandchildren, Abigail Stanfield Laurent (Tyler), William Samuel Stanfield (USAF), Taylor Ann Bush, and Colby Layne Bush; brother-in-law, David Miller (Susan); and Neal and Rhonda's dear friends, David and Loraine Oliver.

A funeral for Neal will be Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Squyers United Methodist Church in Ragley, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and last until the start of the service.
