Willie Mae Johnson finally got her wish to go to Heaven and be with her Jesus, June 20, 2017.
She was born October 29, 1922. Her parents were Shad and Macie West of Pitkin, LA.
Willie Mae had a long and fruitful life. She was a native of Pitkin, LA. and lived in the Lake Charles and Sulphur, LA area for 50+ years.
Willie Mae spent her last six years happily in Spring, TX near family whom she enjoyed, and delighted her to watch. Her greatest joy was when her family visited. Some of her most memorable times were when the family gathered for her birthday celebrations. Close to 95 years of life, she enjoyed many birthday parties. Her friends at Paradise Springs, where she lived, christened her the Gumbo Queen. We, her family and friends bid her farewell until united again in Heaven.
Those left to cherish her memory are a brother, Prentis West of Pitkin, LA; sisters, Thelma Glover of Cayce, SC and Rodessa Robinson of West Columbia, SC; sons, Virgil Gentry of Houston, TX, Ray Mouhot of Houston, TX, and Kenny Vincent of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Monte Gentry, Sr. of Lake Charles.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
