Lake Charles – Willie M. Montgomery, Sr., 79, passed away Friday, December 09, 2016 in his residence.
Willie was born on August 11, 1937 in Flora, LA to the late Othel and Artie Mae Montgomery. He graduated from Iowa High School in 1955. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956; was active aboard the USS Allen M. Sumner, DD-692 from 1956 until 1964; shore duty from 1964 through 1967 and was in the U. S. Naval Reserve until 1977. Mr. Montgomery was an active member of the Masons, Habibi Shriners, and the Refrigeration Service Engineering Society. He was owner/operator of Montgomery’s Service A/C & Refrigeration for over 30 years. Mr. Montgomery taught at Sulphur High School and Sowela Technical College. He also volunteered as the ship superintendent for the USS Orleck.
Survivors are his daughters, Sharon LeBleu and Roberta Bourque (Edward); son, Willie Montgomery, Jr. (Jennifer); siblings, Jimmy Montgomery and Linda Johnson (Lee); 5 grandchildren, Tim A. & Brandon LeBleu, Justin, Jenna & Joe Bourque, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Melton Montgomery; parents and infant child, Dale Ray Montgomery.
Funeral services are Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Weishampel officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation begins Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. and will resume Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
