Quick bulletin change of address:
Dear Willie M. Ogea doesn't dwell in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Now she's just been warmly welcomed into a beautiful mansion in Heaven, prepared specifically for her and her husband by Jesus Himself, who said, "...that where I am, you may be also."
"Rejoice for her, she's begun her eternal life. She loves you too, as I do."
Ms. Willie passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, just 44 days short of her 101st birthday. She was married to the love of her life, William "Bill" Ogea for 71 1/2 years. They were married at St. Patricks Church in Sweetlake, Louisiana. Together they made their home in Lake Charles, Louisiana, creating a place where family and friends always gathered and felt welcome.
A lifelong Catholic, living out her faith through service of kindness and devotion to her family, she was known for hosting large holiday gatherings, especially at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, providing plenty of homemade food, laughter and lasting memories. She was truly the matriarch of our family, building a home of honesty and integrity.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda F. Ogea; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and twelve great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and her children, Jeanette Ogea Melanson, and Ralph J. Ogea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3939 Lake Street. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake Street on Wednesday, April 8 from 9:00 AM until leaving in procession to the church, with a rosary being recited at 11:30 AM.
Special gratitude for their compassionate care with my mother goes out to Ronald M. Lewis, Jr., M.D., and the staff that cared for her during her stay at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
