Iowa – Willis J. Romero, 91, passed away in a local care facility Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
Willis was born in Crowley, LA on June 23, 1924 to the late Nicolas and Elrita Gaspard Romero. He served in the U. S. Army from 1949 to 1954 and was a diesel mechanic; friends near and far would bring motors and such for him to work on. Willis loved camping, French music, playing the accordion and was a great inventor. He was a collector of sorts; aluminum, copper, and iron, never discarding much.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elnora Rogers Romero; daughters, Rosalie Franklin of Lake Charles, Dianna Broussard of Iowa, Lorena Corbello (Michael) of Lake Charles and Debra Fontenot (Jonathan) of Moss Bluff; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Willis is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Estherwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are his son-in-laws and grandsons.
