Wilson Joseph Guidry

May 15, 1947 — May 31, 2026

Sulphur, Louisiana

Wilson Joseph “Chee Wee” Guidry passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born on May 15, 1947, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Arthur and Elodie Castille Guidry.

Chee Wee was a simple man with a generous heart. He lived life in his own steady way and found joy in the things he loved most. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, and throughout his life he had a special interest in racehorses. He was also known for his ability to tinker with trucks and lawnmowers, always willing to work with his hands. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

He built his career in paint and body work, where his skill and attention to detail served him well. More than anything, though, Chee Wee’s greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought him great pride and happiness, and the love he had for them was evident in the way he lived and gave of himself.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Pamela Bordelon Guidry; his daughter, Stephanie Benoit and husband Wendell; his grandchildren, Joshua Benoit and wife Lauren, and Amber Broussard and husband Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Taytum, Myka, Ellie, Baker, and one on the way, Owen; his sisters, Deanie O’Quain and husband Dale, and Johelen Thibodeaux and husband Kenneth; and his godchild, Tiffany Howard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elodie Castille Guidry; his brothers, Jimmy Guidry, Calvin Guidry, Curtis Guidry, Gary Guidry, and Ricky Paul Guidry; and his nephew, Jason Thibodeaux.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, located at 107 West Napoleon Street. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM.

Chee Wee will be remembered for his quiet strength, his giving spirit, and the love he shared with his family. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lake Charles Care Center for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
