Wilton Paul Cormier Sr., born in Eunice on May 19, 1944, son of the late Helen Fontenot and Dewey Joseph Cormier, passed away in his residence on February 19, 2025 at the age of eighty.
Wilton worked in oil fields, farming, dredge boats and mechanics. He liked listening to Cajun French and old country music. He loved watching western shows and going to the casinos. Wilton was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Laura Cormier; siblings, Leeroy Cormier and Dewey Joseph Cormier, Jr.
Survivors are his beloved wife, Mary Benoit Cormier; sons, Wilton Paul Cormier, Jr. and wife, Lora, Kevin Cormier and wife, Wendy, and David Cormier; grandkids, Caleb, Callie, Ashley, Cherrie, Shannon, Christian and Maggie; twelve great-grandkids, with one on the way; sister, Dorothy Stump and husband, Garrel; brother, Hilton Cormier and wife, Barbara; sister in law, Judy Cormier; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. Rev. David Cormier, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation begins on Sunday at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume Monday in the funeral home at 8 a.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Caleb Cormier, Michael Cormier, Carson Broussard, Kenneth Benoit, Brian Lafleur, and John Marcantel.
