Wynola "Wendy Dawn" Nunez

September 20, 1938 — May 15, 2026

Lake Charles, Louisiana

Wynola “Wendy Dawn” Nunez, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born on September 20, 1938, in Creole, Louisiana, to Joseph and Annie Benoit Nunez.

Wynola will be remembered as a selfless and loving woman whose kindness touched many lives. She had a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and a way of making others feel cared for and supported. To those who knew her, she was more than a friend or family member, she was like a mother to many, offering love, humor, encouragement, and devotion wherever it was needed.

One of the great joys and purposes of Wynola’s life was raising her four children and her grandson, Timothy McFarlain. Their bond was deep and lasting. In Timothy’s own words, “She was my rock and champion of my heart.” He remembered how she helped carry him through Marine Corps Boot Camp by writing him words of encouragement every single day. That was Wynola’s heart, faithful, steady, and always thinking of those she loved.

Wynola’s life was marked by care, thoughtfulness, and quiet strength. She gave freely of herself, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of compassion that will continue in the lives of those she touched. Though she will be dearly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wynola is survived by her daughter, Theresa McFarlain Nichols; grandchildren, Krystal Terwilliger and husband, Jim, Byron McFarlain, Timothy McFarlain, Jody McFarlain and wife, Whittney and Jennifer Holland and husband, Logan; great grandchildren, Aaron Terwilliger, Kadence Terwilliger, Blayne “Vincent” Terwilliger, Jonah McFarlain Chandler, Jayden Boyett, Emilee McFarlain, Ella Holland, Lily McFarlain, Wyatt McFarlain, and Lane McFarlain. Wynola was preceded in death by her three sons, Ronald McFarlain, Richard McFarlain and Calvin McFarlain; and her parents.

Funeral services for Wynola will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Wendy may be gone from this life, but the love she gave, the faith she lived, and the memories she leaves behind will never be forgotten.
