Yolande "Cookie" Alexander

November 28, 1945 — June 8, 2017

Yolande “Cookie” Dupuis Alexander, 71, of Sulphur passed away on June 8, 2017 in her residence. She was a member of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.  Her dad, Adolphe Dupuis, was the town barber, and she was always watching him cut hair, so at the age of 18 she followed in his footsteps and became a hairdresser until the year of 1992. In 1992 she began working for the school board as an aide on the handicap bus. Cookie loved to dance, talk, play penny slots, bingo, video poker and attend funerals. She also loved, loved, her family, friends, but especially her grandchildren.

Cookie is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Alexander of Sulphur; her daughter, Alison Alexander of Allen, TX and Stoney Hebert; 2 grandchildren, Khaine and Khannon Hebert; her sister, Connie Romero and husband Jerry; 2 brothers, Emery Dupuis and wife Cherie and John Leslie “Buddy’ Dupuis; numerous nieces and nephews. “LOVE YOU BIG LIKE THE WORLD”; and her ex dancing partner, Wayne Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphe and Yolande Dupuis; and her brother, V.J. Dupuis.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Bernard Cemetery #2 at 2 P.M. in Breaux Bridge, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 11 A.M. until 9 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 P.M. with visitation continuing on Monday, June 12 from 8 A.M. until time of service.
