Yvonne Elise Guidry Wright, 78, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 in a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. Wright was a native of Lake Charles, lived twenty years in Gregory Portland, TX and has returned home to Lake Charles for the past forty years. She studied her Freshman and Sophmore year in Pennsylvania at Greer Finishing School for Women. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School where she was a Kiltie. She continued studies at McNeese State University. During World War II she visited and helped to feed prisoners of war at the Prison Camp at the Port of Lake Charles and at one time worked with Billy Graham and his crusaders. Mrs. Wright, along with her husband, were actively involved in Youth Ministries. She also enjoyed music, rose gardening, wood working and deco paging. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Wright was always a Lady, she will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-nine years, Connie Milton Wright; one son, John Wright and wife Anncie of Lake Charles; two daughters, Linda Newlin and husband Kersey and Terri Wainwright and husband Leslie, both of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren, Connie Wayne Newlin, Albert K. Newlin, III, Sean Wright O'Hara, Kaitlin Elizabeth O'Hara, Kevin Michael Wright, Jesse Ethan Wright, Angel Marie Wright, John Cody Wright and Daniel Wainwright and three great-grandchildren, Grady Wright, Jack Wainwright and Sadie Wainwright.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Daisy Bel Knight Guidry and two sisters, Mary Frances Breaux and Johnnie Bel Guintard.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Matthew Cormier will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 9:00AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
The children of Mrs. Wright wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Resthaven Nursing Center for the excellent care, compassion and kindness shown to their parents.
