Zachie Eugene Primeaux, 77, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 10:54 AM on Saturday, April, 8, 2023 in a local hospital.
Mr. Primeaux was born April 18, 1945 in Lake Charles, LA, and was raised in Creole, LA. He was a 1963 graduate of South Cameron High School, where he excelled in sports, and attended McNeese State University, where he met the love of his life and his first girlfriend, Carolyn Simpson. He worked for the U. S. Postal service for over forty years, beginning his career as a mail carrier and working his way up to the Postmaster in Sulphur, where he retired in 2009. Mr. Primeaux was very active with the NALC (Postal Union), serving as a past president and traveling to coach other cities and countries in the correct and efficient ways to run their post office. He was an avid bowler, belonging to three different teams throughout the years and was very active with the McNeese Cowboy Club. Mr. Primeaux was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed collecting old tools, spending time outdoors, cutting grass, golfing, gardening, and loved to help others. He will forever be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his family dearly and instilled in them hard work and great work ethics.
Mr. Primeaux is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Carolyn Simpson Primeaux; children, Stephen E. Primeaux (Regina) of Sulphur, Zachie Lori Marie Primeaux Coleman (Patrick Scott) of DeQuincy, Marc Alan Belmont Primeaux (Julia) of York, SC, and Anne-Marie Primeaux Doty (Bryan) of Sulphur; adopted children, Bethany Hope Bogan (John) of Richmond, VA and Christopher Plaisance (Rachel) of Many, LA; brother, Robert Primeaux (Jean) of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Brenda Hope Primeaux of DeRidder; fur baby Cineaux; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; nine grandfur babies; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H. D. Primeaux, Frances Thibodeaux Melancon and Sydney Melancon; and brother, Earl Primeaux.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. John Bosman will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
