Zenna May Fontenot Dewitt, 82, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:58 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Mrs. Dewitt was born in Spokane, Washington, on October 13, 1943, and was raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she lived her entire life. She was a proud graduate of St. Charles Academy and remained deeply rooted in her Lake Charles community. A longtime, dedicated member of Glad Tidings Church, she faithfully served in many ministries, including prayer groups and women’s functions. Known as a true prayer warrior, her faith was steadfast and her devotion unwavering.
Soft-spoken and kindhearted, she was known for her generous spirit—always willing to give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She touched many lives through her quiet compassion, humility, and sincere care for others.
In her free time, she enjoyed playing Scrabble and reading, finding joy in both friendly competition and quiet reflection.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Stephen Dewitt and Yvonne Shuff; sister, Zella Glynn (Bill); and grandson, Brent Shuff, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dewitt; a son, Randall Dewitt; and her parents, Wallace and Audrey Fontenot.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles. Pastor Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
